The opening movie for the PS Vita game Gakusen Toshi Asterisk: Hōka Kenran has been released by Bandai Namco Entertainment on Friday – January 8, 2016. The game is based on the light novel series The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water (Gakusen Toshi Asterisk) by author Yuu Miyazaki and illustrator okiura. The theme song of the game is titled "Brilliant Star" by Shiena Nishizawa who also performed the opening theme of the light novel’s anime adaptation.


In an announcement made by Bandai Namco Entertainment on November 2015, they will localize the game in Asia though they revealed that they’re still gauging the market demand before they decide the target language for the game’s localization.

The game will have an original story where the players can choose to play as either the protagonist Ayato Amagiri or an original character. The players’ players can also choose a partner to team up with in battle, and also to date. The ending will change depending on the player's choices.

Asterisk War PS Vita game will ship on January 28 in regular and limited edition. The retail price for the limited edition is 9,900 yen (about US$80) and will include an art box, soundtrack CD, a drama CD featuring the heroines' daily lives, an illustrated mini clear poster, and a Blu-ray Disc with a cast talk and "short movie." In addition, players who pre-order the game will get a download code for a "Y-Shirt" costume.
